Please see below for the latest update from the Steering Group,
Steering Group 15th July
Most of the meeting was taken up with discussion around the Consultation Process.
Steering Group 29th July
At our previous meeting (15th July) Ann Merriless had submitted her decision to resign from the group due to external matters.
Moral Lyall has agreed to fill the consequent vacant place on the Steering Group.
Questionnaires
8 have been returned so far.
Sessions will be arranged at GCH and BPC over the next few weeks to help support those who wish help with completing the form / discuss the content.
Finance
Treasurer advises use of “My Fund Accounting” that will greatly assist him in the tasks of the role. This is recommended by the SG and will be put to the next joint Kirk Session for approval.
It was suggested that the Gift Aid Administrators from BPC and CK meet to establish a forward path. SG will be updated re progress in this regard when we next meet.
Communications
In addition to the usual church magazines, websites, Facebook, word of mouth there is a need to look beyond these traditional methods to enable us, as a Church, to reach a wider audience within our Communities. Advice will be sought from external sources.
Church Committees
A letter has been composed and is ready to go to the12 leads ( 6 from each church) asking that they get together with their counterparts by the end of August.
Some Joint Committees have already been meeting.
Each joint committee should appoint a Convenor - to be approved by KS.
The Mill Cafe will remain as a separate standalone committee.
Elders
There is a need to ascertain who has indicated their wish to stand down/takea Sabbatical/ take on Emeritus status.
Employees
Discussions with the various employees have yet to take place.
Basis of Union
Presbytery have been in contact advising that Edinburgh should be included in the name of the church.
So it will now be Edinburgh:Kirk of Currie and Balerno.
