24 Weekly News 2026

Greetings from Currie Kirk -

Steering Group Updates

The vote for the proposed name for the Union of Currie and Balerno was held on 23rd May - 'Kirk of Currie and Balerno (Church of Scotland)' was the chosen name and this will be sent to Presbytery along with the Basis of Union. The Basis of Union document shows how the Union of Currie and Balerno will work.

The Steering Group are now working on the other practicalities of the Union, ready to send the completed Basis of Union document to Presbytery. This will then be voted on by our Kirk Sessions and Congregations.

A meeting was held to discuss the future of the Kirk News and Balerno Blethers. Both publications will be kept, Kirk News will contain pastoral and congregational matters, Balerno Blethers will contain more community information.

There is to be a survey report completed by Presbytery on all our buildings to identify any repairs which should be undertaken to keep them all safe and fit for purpose.

Anyone who has shown interest in lay preaching should be aware that there will be an online training course available in the autumn 2026.

If you'd like to know more about any aspect of the proposed Union please do not hesitate to email the Kirk office (admin@curriekirk.co.uk) or contact Rev Roy Henderson (RHenderson@churchofscotland.org.uk)
