Discussion around the table began with a proposal that the group have an “Away Day” to allow more time to talk of a Vision for our unified church and various other matters that the SG are dealing with. Herriot Watt Chaplaincy Centre was suggested as the preferred venue and Monday 8th June 2026 was identified as being a date that everyone present was available. Roy contacted the Chaplain at HW University during the meeting and awaits her reply.
Church Name
The votes from Sunday 10th were discussed and a shortlist for the 2nd vote on Sunday 24th May was drawn up in alphabetical order:
Balerno & Currie Parish Church
Currie & Balerno Kirk
Currie & Balerno Parish Church
Kirk of Currie & Balerno
West Pentlands Church.
This list will be circulated via websites, FB etc prior to Sunday 24th May. Only those present at Church on the 24th will be able to cast their vote.

Work continues to solve this issue.
Worship
Options for worship were introduced . There is no alternative to a Union of the 2 congregations. It was acknowledged that people have a fear of their church closing. The 2 congregations worshipping together is one option whilst the additional options of maintaining 2 services on a Sunday and of one service on a Sunday with worship and prayer on a different day were discussed.
Committees & Groups
New structure and roles require to be agreed for the unified church.
Employees
Job specs need to be created for each of the paid employees.
Basis of Union
The document will be presented at the Joint Session Meeting in early June, once the name for the unified church is known, and will then be forwarded to Presbytery.
