Christian Aid

The Christian Aid logoAims and Vision

Christian Aid is a charitable organisation that insists the world can and must be swiftly changed to where everyone, regardless of faith or nationality, can live a full life, free from poverty.

Mandate

Christian Aid is part of an agency of our churches in Britain and Ireland who are mandated to work on relief, development and advocacy for poverty eradication. Christian Aid’s work is founded on Christian Faith.

Currie Kirk’s Involvement

Christian Aid’s main fund raising event is Christian Aid Week in May. There are many ways to raise funds but our campaign centres round a house to house collection over the whole of Currie Parish. We divide Currie into 75 districts and, to ensure complete coverage, we need a volunteer to collect in each district. Since the turn of the millennium we have raised more than £64,500 for Christian Aid, a notable figure, which we could not have achieved without a dedicated team, currently: Graeme Coventry (Co-ordinator), Bryce Eunson (Treasurer) and Dot Rutherford.

In addition to the Christian Aid Week collection we have two further sources of income. Firstly, Christian Aid savings boxes and secondly, a more recent addition, your old mobile telephones and empty printer cartridges are worth some extra revenue.

If you have any questions or would like further information please contact Graeme Coventry on 0131 5381784 or Bryce Eunson on 0131 4493149. Alternatively, have a look at the Christian Aid website (this link will open in a new window).
