Mission and Outreach

Many of our members do sterling work in our community - helping neighbours, working with charities, being Christ to those they meet at work, at leisure, or in their street. Our Mission and Outreach Committee is convened by Lynn Lymer. It seeks to build upon these relationships by identifying ways of expressing the congregation’s commitment, in witness and service, to our local community and beyond. The Committee is responsible also for our on-going relationships with all the other Churches in the valley, irrespective of denomination.

It does this in many ways. For example through:

• Holiday Clubs;

• links with Church based organisations;

• encouraging support for agencies such as Christian Aid, Fresh Start and Fairtrade;

• working with Bethany Christian Trust to provide support to the homeless in Edinburgh; and

• developing overseas projects and maintaining contact with our Missionary Partners, the Fucellas, based in Thailand.

The Committee’s most recent project involves Eco-Congregation Scotland (link will open in a new window) which encourages congregations to take the environment seriously and help care for God’s creation.
